Sunday 22nd February – Windsurf * River Orwell at Levington – mainly cloudy with brief glimpse of sun!

Foil – 20.59 knot max(year PB), 18.24 knot ave(year PB)., 7.24 knot hour, 13.81 knot mile, 21.36 km., 15.02 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 (LW) and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Bolt 5.75m.

With a best friend seriously ill and our lovely Granddaughter spending the night in hospital I was not really inn the mood for another gusty windsurf foil on the Orwell but with our van in the garage again tomorrow I forced myself to head over to the marina. I arrived before 11 and the water was still pretty low but there was a little more wind than yesterday so I took a chance with my 5.75 which was perfect in the gusts but once again there was loads of lulls, I am due a decent session now as I have had 6 poor ones this year already:( I launched by the marina entrance and sailed straight out to deep water and spent most of the session sailing towards the docks, I did have a few good runs in amongst the floundering, I did get a couple of year PB’s before the wind went light and I slowly beat back and called it a day, the highlight of the session was spotting a huge flock of Dunlins flying over the Orwell. Pack up, quick shower to warm my feet up and head for in time for a quick walk down to Felixstowe prom with Mag as the sun was out!
